For local phone calls, dial 9 before the number. Patients may use cell phones or a calling card for long distance calls from the bedside. Patients needing to make a tollfree call from the bedside should talk to their nurse. Cell phones should not be used in certain areas of the hospital, such as our intensive care units. Pleas
